Downtime costs $500 per minute at Demkota Ranch Beef in Aberdeen, SD, says Jason Klinkner, the company’s utilities general foreman. But two Kaishan KRSP rotary screw air compressors provide the reliability he needs. Hear what Jason learned about industrial air compressor reliability.
It has been our privilege to work with thousands of compressed air users over the years. We’ve helped customers achieve remarkable results with the right compressed air choices. And we hope their stories can serve as inspiration for others.
Beef processor Demkota Ranch Beef in Aberdeen, SD, had three old, unreliable air compressors that were not meeting the company’s needs.
“We didn’t have reliability on the air side,” says Jason Klinkner, Demkota’s utilities general foreman. “We were getting a lot of downtime, which is very expensive—upwards of $500 a minute. So we needed something more reliable. We needed something with some more power. And at the end of the day, I need to keep this downtime to a minimum.”
He also wanted compressors that would be more energy efficient. He selected several Kaishan KRSP rotary screw industrial air compressors, including one equipped with a variable-speed drive to meet varying demand while maintaining peak energy efficiency. He got what he was looking for.
“I don’t have words to explain how reliable these things are,” Klinkner says. “To be honest with you, performance-wise, I can’t explain enough to you how we are with performance. It is something you can take to the bank.”
His advice? “If you want something you never have to worry about, cost-efficient, get yourself a Kaishan if you don’t want to be messing around all day fixing stuff and spending a bunch of money.”
Plant engineer Josh Magill says Progressive Foundry is saving $23,000 per year in electrical costs thanks to its purchase of two Kaishan KRSP2 two-stage premium rotary screw industrial air compressors.
When Progressive Foundry, one of the nation’s top gray and ductile iron manufacturers, was ready to expand, plant engineer Josh Magill faced a dilemma: what to do with its four existing air compressors that were failing to meet expectations.
The Perry, IA jobbing foundry worked with an industrial compressed air consultant from Iowa Pump and Compressor in Waterloo, IA, who conducted a compressed air audit, collecting load and pressure data from the existing system. Iowa Pump and Compressor, an independent distributor, analyzed peaks in use and made recommendations.
“We’re a foundry. We use compressed air, but we’re not experts in compressed air,” Magill says. “So they helped us really pick the compressors that were right for us, that match the needs we have. We purchased a compressor with value, something that’s going to be here for a long time.”
Based on the audit, Progressive Foundry purchased two new Kaishan KRSP2 two-stage premium rotary screw air compressors, a 250-HP unit and a 350-HP VSD model. Energy savings alone are $23,000 per year.
“Since then, we haven’t had any air trouble,” Magill says. “They run great. They run in the background. It’s something we just don’t talk about anymore.”

Owner Richard Hilburn had just purchased The Monument Place in 2020 when COVID cases went up and his air compressor went down. Independent distributor Air Mac came to the rescue, installing a 25-HP Kaishan KRSB belt-drive industrial air compressor that has cut energy consumption in half. Watch the video.
The Monument Place in McAlester, OK, relies on air compressors for almost every step of the process of designing, making and selling tombstones and monuments. As a result, Richard Hilburn, owner of The Monument Place, was in a tough spot during the recent COVID pandemic when his company’s existing compressor went down.
With downtime running about $10,000 to $15,000 per week, the company needed help quickly. Air Mac, a leading provider of industrial air compressors, blowers and vacuum pumps in North Texas and Oklahoma, came to the rescue, delivering a loaner and making suggestions on good air practices, including plans for expansion. Then installing a new compressor in short order.
The 25-HP Kaishan KRSB belt-drive industrial air compressor his company bought is an “impressive machine,” Hilburn says, that has cut his company’s electric bill in half. The KRSB belt-drive rotary screw air compressor has an advanced belt drive system that eliminates energy loss and increases bearing life.
“You open it up, and it looks well-made,” he says. “You can see the quality in it.” Watch the video and get the details on The Monument Place’s compressor upgrade.
Strategic Materials of Midlothian, TX, is finding that a Kaishan KRSP-200 single-stage rotary screw industrial air compressor can handle the hot, dusty environment they face as a glass recycling company. Watch the video with Strategic Materials’ plant manager Jason Plummer.
Strategic Materials in Midlothian, TX, presents a dusty, challenging environment for an industrial air compressor. The company recycles and reclaims glass collected curbside, selling off some as cullet to make new glass bottles or containers. And the rest becomes 12-mesh material sold to major insulation manufacturers.
The heat and dust in the air result in a lot of downtime, threatening the company’s ability to deliver for its customers. As a result, the company began looking to replace its existing compressors.
Working with independent distributor Air Mac, the company bought two Kaishan KRSP-200 single-stage rotary screw industrial air compressors, which have solved a lot of problems at the company, according to plant manager Jason Plummer.
“The way that the compressors are built is what I believe makes Kaishan a premier manufacturers of air compressors,” Plummer says. “From the cooling motors and fans that are used all the way down to the basics of being able to service and maintain these in extreme conditions such as what we operate in.”
In addition, the company appreciates having a relationship with a local industrial air compressor expert. “We can call Air Mac 24 hours a day,” Plummer says. “The service is impeccable. Being able to get parts. Service, being able to get techs in here that actually know the equipment. It all increases our uptime, and I would definitely recommend buying a Kaishan compressor.”

Independent distributor AIM recently installed a 60-HP Kaishan KRSD rotary screw industrial air compressor at Most Dependable Fountains in less than a day, according to warehouse manager John Baker. Find out how Kaishan simplified the company’s service and maintenance.
Downtime costs Most Dependable Fountains $70,000 to $120,000 per day, says warehouse manager John Baker. The Arlington, TN, company uses compressed air in all facets of its operation, manufacturing, painting and even packaging its water fountains, shower towers and foot washes for parks, zoos and golf courses.
“Compressed air is our operation,” he says. “If we’re down for a day, basically, we have 23 guys that can’t do anything.”
When an aging air compressor caused a five-day shutdown a few years ago, the company decided it was time for a replacement. The company purchased a 60-HP Kaishan KRSD unit, working with Arkansas Industrial Machinery of Memphis.
The installation started at 9:30 in the morning, and the compressor was operating by one o’clock that same day, making the process painless. “It was a smooth operation,” according to Baker.
The compressor is less noisy than the aging compressor it replaced, he says. And it has access panels to simplify service and maintenance.
“I would recommend Kaishan air compressors,” he adds. “They’ve been very dependable. Kaishan not only honors their word, they had it delivered in less than two weeks. And then it was installed, and we had no problem with being down and actually had the very confidence in Kaishan to take care of our needs. They produced, and we were back in business.”

Reliability is critical to the success of Custom Thermoelectric, a manufacturer of thermoelectric devices and liquid cold plates for cooling systems. Even one day of downtime costs the company thousands of dollars in time, parts and raw materials, says vice president and part owner Andy Masters. See the video about the Kaishan KRSB solving Custom Thermoelectric’s reliability issues.
Losing even one day to downtime costs Custom Thermoelectric of Bishopville, MD, thousands of dollars’ worth of product. And when it happens during production, the company loses the time as well as the parts and raw materials, says Andy Masters, vice president and part owner.
“It’s no good having a compressor that takes three days for someone to get to you to come and service,” he says.
After doing his homework, Masters selected a 20-HP Kaishan KRSB rotary screw compressor, giving the company the reliability and air volume it needed, doubling the capacity of his company’s existing unit. It is larger and has its own storage tank, and it is also quieter.
“It’s so nice to have a compressor that you can literally have a conversation in front of,” he says. It is “an excellent purchase.”
